I think Hatshepsut dressed as a male pharaoh even though they knew the pharaoh of Egypt was a pharaoh because back then, usually men had more power than females (in my opinion)/ had a higher class (ex. in Mesopotamia women were in the same class as slaves), so to have a little more power or to look like one might have a little more power.
Good thoughts! Women were treated very well in ancient Egypt, but Hatshepsut probably felt that she would have more respect from the Egyptians if she dressed as a traditional pharaoh. Her people knew that she was a woman, but she still chose to dress traditionally.
